The flat surface of the lid of this piece features a stemmed-peony design. The flower and leafy stem are inlaid in white and black slip in a delicate and painterly manner. The beveled edge and the side of the lid both feature an incised combed design matching the combed design on the main body. The glaze is of a pale, greenish gray color, and has a calm, composed quality to its finish.
